Embedded Access Inc has been selected by Freescale Semiconductor to play a major supporting role in a revolutionary initiative it announced today. Freescale is providing a comprehensive suite of embedded software at no additional charge to users of its new MCF5225x microcontroller (MCU) family. The suite of software includes the Freescale MQX RTOS, RTCS TCP/IP Stack, a USB Host Stack with Class Drivers, the MFS File System, and a Web Server. Freescale plans to also provide the software suite on future embedded processors and MCUs.
For currently available processors, Embedded Access plans to continue to distribute MQX and related products to help ensure that MQX is available across Freescale’s extensive portfolio of 32-bit processors and MCUs. More information about the software enablement and MCF5225x MCUs is available on Freescale’s press release at www.freescale.com/files/pr/coldfire.html.
Embedded Access will be supporting Freescale’s enablement solution by providing engineering services, support services, training, and licensing of pre-integrated products such as a graphics development package, flash file system, security products, and SNMPv3.
“We are pleased to enhance our longstanding relationship with Freescale by being part of this exciting endeavor,” said Craig Honegger, President of Embedded Access. “With the MCUs that Freescale is providing coupled with Embedded Access’s portfolio of add-on packages, developers can leverage an unprecedented suite of pre-integrated products to accelerate their product development.”
“Offering a complimentary, full-scale RTOS to customers using MCF5225x MCUs is a major milestone in Freescale’s strategy of providing comprehensive hardware/software solutions,” said Aiden Mitchell, director of industrial and multi-market microcontrollers at Freescale. “Embedded Access’s extensive software expertise complements Freescale’s enablement solution and is a major asset for developers creating 32-bit industrial connectivity applications based on the MCF5225x family.”
